Incumbent Republican Governor Spencer Cox is running for re-election to a second term in office. Primary elections will take place on June 25, 2024.[1]

Background

A conservative western state, Utah is considered to be a strongly red state at the federal level, with both of its U.S. senators, all statewide offices, supermajorities in both houses of the Utah Legislature and all of its U.S. representatives belonging to the Republican Party. In the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump carried Utah by 20 percentage points.[2][3]

Cox was first elected in 2020, defeating Christopher Peterson by 33 points.[4]
