Background
The Surface Laptop Studio was announced on September 22, 2021, alongside the Surface Pro 8, Surface Pro 7+, Surface Go 3, and the reveal of Microsoft’s new Windows 11 operating system. The Surface Laptop Studio hit stores on October 5 and was one of the first devices to feature Windows 11 pre-installed.
It features Intel Tiger Lake 11th Generation Core i5 or Core i7 processor with the Intel Iris Xe GPU (for the Core i5 GPU) and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU (for the Core i7 CPU). It comes with a removable SSD and storage up to 2TB. It's also the first Surface Laptop with 2 Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports.
The Surface Laptop Studio is the first of yet another new lineup of Microsoft devices. Microsoft designed the Studio lineup with creative professionals in mind, including strong processors and a digital stylus to fully utilize creative programs.
Identification
The Surface Laptop Studio showcases an entirely new form factor with a magnesium and aluminum exterior. Its defining feature is a novel dual-pivoting display that can fold the device into a tablet as well as canvas mode.
The Surface Laptop Studio is identifiable by model number 1964. The model number is located under the display's middle hinge point. When the device is in "laptop" mode, push the top of the display away from the keyboard and rotate it back to see the model number. Refer to Microsoft’s official guide for alternative ways to identify your Surface device.
