Background

The JBL Charge 5 is a speaker released in April 2021 by JBL, a company that has sold millions of speakers. The waterproof feature allows the device to be used in both indoor and outdoor environments. The device has options for customizable casing color, customized clip to attach speaker, base design, image upload, text, and stickers. When purchasing the speaker from JBL, it includes the device, USB cable, start guide, safety sheet, and warranty card. The warranty card depends on your plan of choice, which includes a one, two, or three year warranty. There have not been any known recalls from the manufacturer for this device.

The JBL Charge 5 comes with a protective sock, a charging cable, and documentation about the speaker. The JBL Charge 5 has the shape and weight similar to a football, with the speakers wrapped in a woven fabric cover with smooth silicone accents. The silicone foot on the bottom of the speaker helps it stay in place on flat surfaces. While this Bluetooth speaker is marketed as portable, it is not pocket sized. It is lightweight with onboard controls. The JBL Charge 5 has two speakers that range from 60 Hz to 20k Hz and can play music for up to 20 hours. This speaker also has a feature called PartyBoost that allows the device to be paired with another speaker (of the same brand) to be louder and allow music to travel further. This speaker becomes fully charged within 4 hours. The JBL Charge 5 also has two USB ports to charge other devices, which can be helpful when using a battery on a device to play music. It also has an official IP67 rating, which means it can handle dust and submersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes as long as the charging port flap is closed.

Identification

The JBL Charge 5 has identification locations on the device and the box it comes in. On the device, the text "JBL" is located on the front center of the device. The words "CHARGE 5" are printed on a tab covering the USB port on the back of the device. The box the device comes in has both the name and specifications listed.
