Background
The Asus Q524U was released in September 2016 as a part of the now discontinued Asus Q series laptop/tablets 2-in-1 devices. It has a model number of Q524U, however it is commonly regarded as the Asus Q524UQ. Its two unique bezels allow for the device to fold all the way back into table mode. This maximizes the touchscreen feature and allows the user to utilize the device in more comfortable locations.
When it was released, the Q524U sold $899-$999 per unit. Currently, prices on used versions are ranging from $220 - $499, depending on the condition the device is in. Two different version of the Asus Q524U were released. In the 2016 version, the RAM was 12GB whereas the 2017 version came with 16GB of RAM. Both versions came with additional features such as a built in microphone, webcam, and Wi-Fi adapter.
Although an excellent machine, the Asus Q524U did not come without fault. Reviewers across multiple retail sites state that the HDD drive incorporated into the device is deemed too slow and outdated. Some would report issues with the drive within two days of use. There was never a recall associated with this issue and people tended to fix it on their own or get a tech squad to do so. In order to fix the HDD issue people replaced it with an SSD drive. Others would say that the 940MX graphics card was not up to par with other graphics cards of the same year.
Identification
The Asus Q524U is a 15x 10 inch laptop that is .9 inch thick. It comes in black with copper, reflective bezels or black with silver, reflective bezels. The best way to verify it is the correct device is by checking the model number. It is on the backside of the keyboard in the center of where the screen and keyboard meet.
