Suleja is in Niger State, Nigeria. It is in the North of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

History

It was established in the early 19th century by Mohammed Makau, the last Hausa emir of Zaria and his followers who were fleeing the Fulani jihadists engaged in the conquest of northern Nigeria. Zaria, or Zazzau, was one of the Hausa city/states of Northern Nigeria which were being conquered by the Fulani jihadists under their charismatic Sheik, Usman Dan Fodio.

By plane

At the airport, there are friendly staff who help travellers carry luggage, get checked and with customs and passport control. This travel option entails the use of the interstate buses, taxis or private vehicles. Like most of the capital cities in the country, Suleja has a standard garage fleet that transports travellers to other parts of the country. These interstate buses usually have major parks that convey travellers from state to state. Nonetheless, travellers from Abuja to Suleja would need to use a taxi particularly because of the proximity of the two cities.
