Surak (Persian: سورك, also romanized as Sūrak)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, the Central District of Miandorud County, Mazandaran province, Iran, and also serves as capital of the county.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population was 8,817 in 2,377 households, when it was in the former Miandorud District of Sari County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 8,930 people in 2,712 households,[6] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Miandorud County.[4] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 9,208 people in 4,087 households.[2]
Surak is 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from Sari, stretching from Sari in the west to Neka in the east, north to the Caspian Sea and south to the northern slopes of the Alborz Mountains.
Economy
Agricultural products include rice, citrus and tobacco.
