Cedrick Juan is a Filipino theater and movie actor. He is best known from leading role in historical film GomBurZa. He is also well known for his roles in the television series and movies The Panti Sisters, Till I Met You, and Paano ang Pasko.

He won the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actor award for his portrayal of Fr. Jose Burgos in GomBurZa.

Career

Juan began his acting career in theater in 2008.[1]

His early acting stints include being part of the Dulaang UP at the University of the Philippines in Diliman from 2013 to 2016, and at the FEU-Art Theatre Clinique of the Far Eastern University.[2]

He was also cast in the musical Mula sa Buwan (From the Moon), a musical adaptation of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano De Bergerac.[3][4]

In 2023, he was cast as Fr. Jose Burgos in the historical drama Gomburza, a dramatization of the events that led to the execution of the titular martyr priests who were implicated in the Cavite Mutiny. Originally, he was auditioning for a different role until the movie's director Pepe Diokno asked him if he wanted to take the role of Fr. Burgos instead.[2] On December 27, 2023, he won the Best Actor award at the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.[5]

Personal life

Juan is the second eldest among eight siblings.[6]
