Introduction

Metal waist chains are belts worn as fashion accessories.

Sometimes chain links can open due to warping caused by repeated wear and tear, making the chain links to come apart. Instead of throwing your waist chain away, this quick and easy guide can help you repair it so you can keep wearing it.

This repair requires inspecting small parts. If you have a harder time with holding small parts or seeing small parts, you might want to have somebody with smaller hands or better eyesight assist you.

Before beginning this repair, ensure that you know how to hold the pliers comfortably in your hand.

    • Hold one plier in each hand and grip the desired ring on the end of the waist chain.

    • Any two pliers can be used for this repair. However, we recommend needle nose pliers since you will be working with small chain links.

    • At the same time, move one plier towards you and one plier away from you in order to open up the ring.

    • Make sure your grip on the ring is sturdy. Your pliers can easily slip off due to how small the ring is.

    • Bend the ring slightly by opening it just enough for the other ring to link. Do not open it all the way since it will be difficult to close.

    • Use the pliers to grip the open ring.

    • Move the pliers in the opposite direction from which you opened it.

    • You should now have a closed ring.

    • Make sure the ring is closed all the way. If it is not, this can result in the waist chain breaking again.
