Songdo is an international business city 65km south of Seoul. It is being developed on 1,500 acres of reclaimed land along the waterfront of Incheon, and built specifically for access to Incheon International Airport. The total area is about 53.4km². As of January 2019, the population exceeded 140,000. The official name is Songdo International City, Incheon Free Economic Zone, but it is also commonly referred to as Songdo New City. there is the old Songdo and new Songdo. this article is talking about the new Songdo.
Climate
The climate of Songdo is very similar to that of nearby Seoul. Songdo is close to the Yellow Sea (locally called the West Sea), so its weather is affected by the sea's climate. Below is climate chart of Songdo.
Songdo is connected to the Incheon International Airport by a 7.4-mile-long highway bridge. There are two main bus services from Incheon going through much of Songdo. The more comfortable, but expensive Airport Limousine Route 6777/6777-1 has stops throughout the western part of the island. Routes 303/330 is much more affordable, and has stops along northern Songdo. Both trips take about 20-30 minutes.
Coming from Gimpo International Airport is made possible by the AREX (Airport Railroad Express) Line and Incheon Line 1 via Gyeyang. This journey takes roughly 50 minutes.
By train
Songdo is connected to the rest of Incheon via Incheon Subway Line 1. There are seven stops on the island, allowing easy reach to almost all main attractions. The standard fare for the subway is ₩1550, and comes around every ten minutes during the week. The subway opens up around 5:30AM and last train is at midnight. Coming from Seoul, most likely you will connect through Bupyeong or Bupyeong-gu Office via Line 1 or Line 7 respectively. From Suwon or other areas in the Southern Seoul Metro Area, you can connect through Woninjae. After connecting, head southbound towards Songdo Moonlight Festival Park Station to reach Songdo.
By bus
Songdo is also accessible via bus, but in most cases is much slower than the subway, or more expensive (unless arriving from the airport). Trunk bus lines 16 and 58 connect central Incheon to Songdo every 15-20 minutes between 5:00AM and 11:00PM, and Trunk bus line 320 connects Yeongjong Island to central Incheon between 5:00AM and 11:00PM every 15-25 minutes. The one faster exception will be direct bus line 3002, which connects the Gwangmyeong KTX station to Songdo every 25-35 minutes between 5:30AM and midnight.
Get around
There are several ways to get around Songdo. most of the signs are marked in Roman letters for the benefit of travelers.
AThe second Gyeongin Expressway was extended to Songdo with the opening of the Incheon Bridge, and the third Gyeongin Expressway was also opened in March 2010. BRT has already been planned in Songdo, and the bus routes linking Gangnam and downtown of Seoul are gradually being developed, leading to better traffic. The U-Composite Transfer Center (Songdo) is opened, and various airport buses stop here. Bus lines connecting Yeonsu-gu and Seoul include Incheon bus 9200 and Incheon bus 9201 that connect 'Yeonsu-gu' and Gangnam. Incheon bus 1300 and Incheon bus 1301 that connect 'Yeonsu-gu' and Seoul Station. There is Incheon bus No. 1302.
By taxi
If you are in Incheon, you can call a taxi at 1577–5588. However, some drivers are not fluent in English, and if you prefer not to call, if you have a Kakao account, you can also use this application. By selecting requested points of departure and arrival on the map, you enable a driver to contact you, and they will use the app's navigation system to get you to your destination. Fares start at ₩3800 and increase by distance and time.
By subway
There is one line that connects Songdo with other cities. The subway system shuts down around 00:00, and opens again around 05:30. This is the average time of each of endpoint.
