Okemah

Okemah is a town in the Frontier Country region of Oklahoma and the birthplace of "This Land Is Your Land" renowned singer Woody Guthrie.

• 🌍 Woody Guthrie's Childhood Home (SW corner of W Birch St and, S 1st St). The home is gone, but there is a tree trunk-like memorial commemorating the site. Also try the Woody Guthrie mural and statue on Broadway about a block east of the Okfuskee County Historical Museum. (updated Sep 2021)
• 🌍 Okfuskee County Historical Museum, 407 W Broadway St, ☏ +1 918 623-2440. M-F 9AM-4PM. This is a 1926 Masonic temple. It now contains the history of the county and an early days schoolroom display. 

• 🌍 Okemah Lake. Boating and swimming. 

• 🌍 Ali's Place II, 107E Columbia, ☏ +1 918 716-1156. Sa-Th 7AM-2PM, F 7AM-8PM. Features affordable plate lunches, fried pies, and all you can eat catfish on Fridays. (updated Sep 2021)

• 🌍 Days Inn by Wyndham Okemah, 605 S Woody Guthrie, ☏ +1 918 623-2200. One should not be too choosy about hotels in Okemah because this is about the only one here.
