Nachikatsuura
Nachikatsuura (那智勝浦町 Nachi-katsura-chō), also known as Kii-Katsuura (紀伊勝浦), is a town on the southern coast of Wakayama Prefecture. It is known for its Shinto shrine that is a 
UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for its tuna market.

From Nagoya, take JR Kansai and Kise Line for 3 hours and 20 minutes from Nagoya Station to Kii-Katsuura Station. From Osaka, take JR Hanwa and Kise Line for 3 hours and 40 minutes from Shin-Osaka Station to Kii-Katsuura Station.

- 🌍 Kumano Nachi Taisha (熊野那智大社). 06:00-16:30. A Shinto shrine that's been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Grounds free, treasure hall ¥300.

- 🌍 Katsuura Seafood Market (勝浦地方卸売市場). After Tokyo, this is the largest tuna market in Japan. Tuna auctions start from 07:00, although they use a silent bid system and are thus quite subdued. View from 2nd floor observation platform is free, or pay ¥1000 for auction floor access including a tuna sample. The main market is wholesale only but there are plenty of retailers and tuna restaurants around.
