Get in
By car
The main road in and out of Millthorpe is perhaps creatively called Millthorpe Road, which runs between the Mid-Western Highway (A41) at Blayney and the southeastern fringe of Lucknow at the Mitchell Highway (A32). The road is fairly drivable at 100 km/h, though the road can go unloved particularly in times of heavy rainfall.
By train
π Millthorpe Station receives 1 daily train service on the Dubbo XPT between Sydney and Dubbo in each direction. Bookings must be made in advance with NSW Trainlink and Millthrope is a request stop on the line (meaning it will not stop if there are no bookings). The Broken Hill XPL passes by but does not stop. The service from Central leaves at 7:19AM and arrives at 11:51PM and costs $27.75 for an adult. The service leaves from Dubbo at 2:15PM, gets into Millthorpe at 4:11PM and terminates Central at 8:46PM. This means that if you were to daytrip from Sydney, could do so for about 4 hours (give or take for delays) before returning back for $50 on a full adult fare.
NB: the station had only opened in 2019; many sources may still claim the station is closed.
By coach
Millthorpe gets NSW Trainlink coaches, namely the coaches that run between Orange and Bathurst via Blayney; some of these extend further beyond to Lithgow, but it depends on time and day. Most often it's to fill a gap not covered by the train.
Get around
All of Millthorpe is reachable on foot. For a regional city of its size, it is surprisingly accessible by foot.

- There are two town walks in Millthorpe. The first of the two is the Railway Walk, a 2-km walk that should take no longer than 30 minutes, encircling the town's railway station. There is a footpath for most of this walk, but it does disappear for a short distance around Park St. The other is the Village / Country Walk, which is a 3-km walk on the periphery of the town north of the railway with small section through the centre of town β it's a great walk to see the town's autumn colours during April.
