Karlsborg is a city in northern Västergötland, at lake Vättern.

Karlsborg was purpose-built during the 19th century as a secondary capital city of Sweden, if a foreign invasion would force the national government to evacuate from Stockholm. Though this strategy is obsolete today, the military presence remains high.
