Northern Circuit

The Northern Circuit (道北 Dōhoku) covers the northern and inner part of the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.

• 🌍 Asahikawa (旭川市 Asahikawa-shi) – Hokkaido's second-largest city, famed for being the coldest place in Japan
• 🌍 Furano (富良野市 Furano-shi) — Popular ski resort with near-guaranteed perfect powder
• 🌍 Nayoro (名寄市 Nayoro-shi) — visitors come for its sunflowers in July and its winter ski resort
• 🌍 Shibetsu (士別市 Shibetsu-shi — Mount Teshio, the highest peak in the Kitami Mountains, has well-maintained trails )
• 🌍 Wakkanai (稚内市 Wakkanai-shi) – Japan's northernmost town is the gateway to Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park

• 🌍 Biei (美瑛町 Biei-chō) one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Hokkaido for its beautiful flowers, rivers, trees, and snow
• 🌍 Kamikawa (上川町 Kamikawa-chō) — the gateway to Daisetsuzan National Park
  • 🌍 Sounkyo Onsen (層雲峡 Sōunkyō) — a hot spring resort in the Sōun Gorge of the Daisetsuzan National Park
• 🌍 Shimukappu (占冠村 Shimukappu-mura — has a magnificent gorge whose walls soar in a spectacular contrast of red and blue rocks
• 🌍 Horonobe (幌延町 Horonobe-chō) — known for its windfarm with 28 windmills

• Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park — has spectacular landscapes and fantastic hiking, is noted for its alpine flora and views of volcanic mountains and areas formed by marine erosion
  • 🌍 Rishiri Island (利尻島 Rishiri-tō) — lots of hikingbtrails for all levels, and amazing views from the peak of Rishiri
  • 🌍 Rebun Island (礼文島 Rebun-tō) — hiking trails for all levels of hiker, or take a nature
• 🌍 Daisetsuzan National Park (大雪山国立公園 Daisetsuzan Kokuritsu Kōen) — the mountainous and volcanic center of the island, with some of the most amazing landscapes of Hokkaido
