Bvumba Mountains

The Bvumba Mountains or Vumba Mountains are located in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe, about 10 km southeast of Mutare.

It is easier to have your own vehicle to reach the various short hikes.

Shared taxis from Mutare can drop you anywhere up to the Leopard Rock hotel (US$5, 30-45 min).

You can hitchhike on the way back.

  • 🌍 Castle Baecon / Mvumba Heights. Main summit in the area. 30-min hike from the Police Training Center building on a very steep staircase dug in the mountain. (updated Jul 2024)
  • 🌍 Vumba Botanical Gardens. Beautiful gardens with streams and ponds. If you walk from Leopard Rock Hotel, there is a direct shortcut at the 🌍 junction with the main road. US$10 for internationals. (updated Jul 2024)
