Toppenish

city in Yakima County, Washington, United States

Toppenish is a town of 8,900 people (2020) in the Columbia River Plateau region of Washington State. Toppenish calls itself "the city of murals". More than 75 murals adorn its buildings. The historically accurately murals depict scenes of the region from 1840 to 1940. The city also hosts horse-drawn tours and annual art events.

Set in The old 1911 Northern Pacific Railway depot, with real locomotives and tracks, this museum recreates the ambience of the 1930s railroads. $3 ($2 children).

Established in 1980, the Yakama Nation Cultural Center (YN CC) is a unique, multifaceted facility offering a variety of programs that share Yakama Nation's history and culture with all. It offers the Yakama Nation Museum, Heritage Inn Restaurant, Winter Lodge, Heritage Theater, Yakama Nation Library, and CC gift shop. The Cultural Center is open to the general public seven days a week and is a wonderful cultural experience.
