Apapa

Apapa is a Local Government Area in Lagos City. Tin Can Island Port (TCIP) is located in Apapa.

Apapa sits to the west of Lagos Island. Apapa has a number of ports and terminals which are operated by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Nigerian ports are very important and play a vital role in socio-economic development. It is the cheapest means of transferring goods for importation and exportation The ports were used as a slave route during the colonial era. The seaport was founded in the early 15th century. It served the old Oyo Empire. About 500,000 slaves were shipped from Apapa port to the America.

Tin Can Island Port is the second largest port in Nigeria after Apapa Port.
