Takua Pa

district in Phang Nga province, Thailand


Takua Pa is a town on the Northern Andaman Coast of Phang Nga Province. It is the administrative headquarters of the province's Takua Pa District.

The town is featured in Aditya Assarat's 2007 film Wonderful Town.

Get in

Regular buses from the provincial capital, Phang Nga, throughout the day. ~1 hour, 70 baht. Also, buses en route Bangkok-Phuket pass through Takua Pa hourly during the day.

Get around

Most people arrive in Takua Pa because they want to go onwards to Khao Sok National Park, which is about 45 mins away. if you arrive in Takua Pa bus station after about 5pm, they will try to tell you that the buses to Khao Sok are finished for the day, and you will have to pay for a private car taxi (800 baht), or moped taxi (400 baht) to get you there (Aug 2024 prices). The buses may not actually be finished however, and if you ask around, someone may be able to give you information about a bus that will be passing by in an hour or so and can stop to collect you. A seat in a minivan from Takua Pa to the centre of Khao Sok is 150 baht.

🌍 Extra Hotel, 46 Senarath Rd (~1 km south of the bus station, over the bridge, 40 baht via tuk tuk), +66 76 421026. Well-known in town. Typical Thai mid-range hotel, just a little worn. Minimal English. 700 baht.

In Aug 2024 (low season), the general price for a room in a hotel near Takuapa bus station was around 500 baht.
