South East Nigeria (Igboland) is a region of Nigeria. It is composed of the following states: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo.
The dominant languages of the region are Igbo and English.
South East has hot and warm seasons. The wet season is warm and the hot season partly cloudy.
In the South East of Nigeria, there are lot of common crops, including yams, cocoyams, cassava, maize, melon, vegetables and palm oil and kernels. Indigenous crafts are also produced in the region.
Although most people in the southeast speak English, it is best to learn a few words and phrases in Igbo, the dominant language here.
South East Nigeria has a well-developed road system that makes travel easy by car. Vehicles can be hired at any one of the cities.
Yams are the cultural food of the Igbos, the people of eastern Nigeria.
This region is the safest in Nigeria, contributing the lowest percentage of fatalities in the country.
