Soave
Italian comune
Soave is a small medieval town near located in between Verona and Vicenza. The town is totally surrounded by the walls which slope down from it majestic Castle, a typical medieval military edifice erected in the High Middle Ages, probably on the former site of a Roman fort. Soave’s Castle is probably one of the most well-preserved buildings of its époque and, once insight, visitors really have the feeling that the age of seigneurs, lords and duels was never over.
But the Caste is just part of Soave’s monuments and heritage sites. Take a look at the Palace of Justice, the Scaliger Palace, near Porta Aquila, or at the Church of Santa Maria dei Domenicani.
The town is also famous for the typical dry white wine – Soave – which is produced in the romantic hills surrounding the Medieval walls. A dedicated festival is organised in May in order to celebrate the virtues of this very popular wine.
