San Martín is the region of Peru that includes the department of San Martin. This is a region in northern Peru. Most of the department is located in the upper part of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest.

The main typical dishes are:

  • Juane, prepared with rice, chicken, eggs and olives;

  • Inchicapi, soup prepared with chicken, cassava, corn and peanuts;
  • Timbuche, fresh fish soup, beaten eggs and cilantro;
  • Tacacho, roasted and mashed green plantain with lard;
  • Chonta salad, seasoned with salt, lemon and a little oil;
  • Siquisapa ant, Atta sexdens fried insect with exquisite flavor.

The most common typical drinks are: masato, aguardiente, ventisho, seven roots, uvachado, chuchuhuasi, chapo, strong chicha, and courtsachados.
