Salerno, Paestum and Amalfi

Salerno, Paestum and Amalfi are the three main cultural cities in the Gulf of Salerno area of the Salerno province of Campania, Southern Italy. It is common for 3-day itineraries to start with a day in Salerno, then day trips from Salerno to Paestum and Amalfi.

If you need to take a plane, you will most likely land at Naples International Airport. Otherwise, you will probably arrive by train, as Salerno is a major railway destination and train travel is a good value in Italy. For more details on these and other methods of entry, see Salerno#Get in.

Day 1: Arrive in Salerno and visit the city. Day 2: Take a train or a bus from Salerno to Paestum and visit Paestum, then come back to Salerno to sleep. Day 3: Take a bus (or ferry during summer) from Salerno to Amalfi to visit Amalfi, then come back to Salerno.
