municipality/county in the microrregion of Bananal in the eastern part of the state of São Paulo in Brazil bordering with state of Rio de Janeiro to the north and south

São José do Barreiro is a town of 4,100 people (2019) and municipality in the Vale do Paraíba region. Like other cities of the Historical Valley Circuit, São José do Barreiro has a strong heritage from the 19th-century coffee farming era, plus beautiful nature at the Serra da Bocaina National Park.
