Siikalatva is a municipality in the Southern Oulu region. It was created in 2009 through the fusion of the four municipalities of Kestilä, Piippola, Pulkkila and Rantsila.

The main roads going through the area are Highway 4 between Oulu and Jyväskylä and highway 88 between Raahe and Iisalmi.

By bus

Buses along Highway 4 stop at Siikalatva. In addition there are buses from Haapajärvi, Raahe, Haapavesi and Kuopio.

  • 🌍 The geographical centre of Finland (Leskelä village). This is the centre of gravity (including islands but not the sea). The official monument is at a crossroads, right next to highway 4 in Leskelä village of Siikalatva municipality. The true point is a bit off the road, in a swamp. If you take the mean of the extreme latitudes and longitudes, you end up in Liminka instead.
