Understand
Pyeongtaek City is a city in the southwestern part of Gyeonggi-do, Korea. On May 10, 1995, 澤 City was launched in the form of an urban-rural complex by merging Songtan City, Pyeongtaek City, and Pyeongtaek-gun. It borders Anseong City and Yongin City to the east, Osan City and Hwaseong City to the north, and Asan City, Cheonan City, and Dangjin City in Chungcheongnam-do to the south by the border of Asan Bay. The administrative district is 15 dong, 5 myeon, and 4 eup.
City Hall is located in Non-jeon-dong. Pyeongtaek City can be divided into three main areas: southern, northern, and western areas. Songtan branch offices in charge of civil complaints in 3 and 7 dongs in the north (formerly Songtan district, etc.) are set up in Seojeong-dong, and Anjeong branch offices in charge of civil complaints in 3 and 2 villages in the west are set up in Anjeong-eup.
Climate
Ansan's climate is very similar to that of nearby Seoul and Suwon. The following table is Suwon's climate. Compared to Incheon or Seoul, Suwon is relatively hotter and colder. It features continental climate. Ansan is close to the West Sea so there are a lot of winds from the sea.According to the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecast, Pyeongtaek’s climate is somewhat similar to Incheon’s, though not as influenced by coastal factors as areas like Daebudo Island. Pyeongtaek experiences a temperate rain climate, with summer temperatures about 2°C cooler and winter temperatures about 2°C warmer than Seoul or inland areas like Suwon. Although it lacks typical coastal city characteristics, it benefits from the moderating influence of marine climate traits, making it relatively pleasant.
The annual precipitation in Pyeongtaek is approximately 1,300 mm, which aligns with the averages found along the west coast. The city is well-equipped with drainage infrastructure, which prevents flood damage. However, like other areas influenced by oceanic climates, summers in Pyeongtaek are very humid. On non-rainy summer days, humidity often exceeds 90%, and it can reach 100% during night time.
