Pellworm

German municipality

Pellworm (North Frisian: Polweerm, Danish: Pelvorm) is one of the North Frisian Islands.

Understand

Pellworm is one of the many island in the so-called Waddensea, where the tide retreats every few hours to allow walks on the sea bed. The island of only 6x7km with 1200 permanent inhabitants is one of the quieter islands.

Get in

The NPGD ferry runs between Strucklahnungshörn harbour on the Nordstrand peninsula and 🌍 Pellworm Harbour. During high season the ships run every 2 hours. You can buy tickets without (€15.00) or with (€27.60) bus transfer from Husum station, which is the closest rail station.

The small 🌍 Pellworm Airstrip is not open for the public and only accessible with prior permission (PPR). It supports helicopters or small aircraft up to 2,000 kg (4,400 lb), supplying the island.

Get around

Pellworm is small and quiet enough that cycling on the paved streets is fine. There's also limited bus service, operating in part as service on request after phoning the bus and ferry company NPDR.
