The Northern Minas Gerais region of Minas Gerais
The Triângulo Mineiro region of Northern Minas Gerais is a little larger than Portugal. It is known as being a highly developed region, well watered, with rich pastureland producing some of the best beef and dairy cattle in the country.
The Triângulo Mineiro is a tourist circuit of seven municipalities: Araguari, Estrela do Sul, Iraí de Minas, Monte Carmelo, Romaria, Tupaciguara, and Uberlândia. These towns have historical heritage buildings including the church of Espírito Santo do Cerrado in Uberlândia, designed by the architect Lina Bo Bardi, and the Architectural and Landscaping of the former Goiás-Araguari Railroad Station, in Araguari.
Fishing and nautical sports are practiced in the reservoir of the Emborcação Hydroelectric Power Plant in Araguari.
The Vesperatas are open shows of traditional music bands, a large event that takes place in Diamantina twice a month (from April to October).
