Nagarkot
village in Nepal
Nagarkot is a village in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. It is 32 km (20 mi) north-east of Kathmandu on the northern fringe of the Kathmandu Valley. Nagarkot is famous for its Himalayan views, the Himalayan peaks at sunrise being particularly magnificent.
Besides scenic views and outdoor hiking, the town itself doesn't offer much, but this laid-back vibe (and not a tout in sight) makes Nagarkot a good place for long-term backpackers to spend a few nights (or longer) and plan the next leg of their trip. The main road can be dusty at day because the road is not paved in asphalt. Weekend here would see more local visitors as residents in Kathmandu would come here for a weekend trip.
