Mundau

Mundau is a beach village in western Ceará. Still chiefly a traditional fishing village, tourism is slowly eating in. Always a step behind neighbouring Flecheiras, this is the place to go for absolute calm.

Some 140 km from Fortaleza are covered in about 2 hours by car. A handful of daily buses by Paraipaba will cost you double the time.

Goods and services are rather scarce, but most essentials can be found in Trairi, 17 km inland.

A few restaurants with none to varied menus.

Usually a local party of sorts on Saturdays. Count on forró.

A good dozen of inns, charging between R$ 20 and 100 for a double.

An internet cafe charges R$ 2 an hour.

You can rent a buggy and drive along the beaches. To go further west you need to cross the river by a tiny ferry.
