Mikun

Mikun (Russian: Ми́кунь) is in the southwest of the Komi Republic of Northwestern Russia. It was founded as a gulag settlement in the 1940s and is today home to about 9,000 people. It is an important railway junction for the Russian north, on the line between Kotlas and Vorkuta as well as the line from Syktyvkar to Arkhangelsk.
