Maranguape

Brazilian municipality in the state of Ceará

Maranguape is a city in Ceará, just southwest of Fortaleza, some 40 km from Beira Mar. The highest peaks in the area, reaching almost 1000 metres, back the city.

Buses run from Fortaleza's central train station several times an hour, about 45 minutes, R$ 5. A return taxi from Beira Mar is about R$ 100.

Ypioca has a museum here, showing the history of cachaça production in this company since the 1840s. Guided tours in English or Portuguese take about 45 minutes. Guinness has certified the world's largest wooden barrel here. Some free tasters and an interesting shop.
