Maio is an island in Cape Verde. Vila do Maio, or just Vila, is the primary city on the island. It is the home to the island's airport and seaport.
There are flights from Praia, the capital city, 3 times per week. Cabo Verde Airlines has an office in Vila do Maio.

There are buses that circle the island on the single cobblestone road. Hitchhiking is also a common, well-accepted means of transportation among locals and tourists alike.
There are two Italian restaurants across the main street from each other; one, Trattoria del Qwerty, is also an internet cafe.
Crime on Maio is very low.
