Understand

Rural tourism in Lages began in 1984, at Pedras Brancas Farm. Centuries-old farms in the region began to adapt to receive visitors and tourists who wanted to experience the peasant lifestyle, with milking, planting, "mountain" cuisine.

There is a direct bus from the REUNIDAS bus company, which leaves from Florianópolis. There are also buses from São Paulo (Viação Catarinense), Porto Alegre and Curitiba.

  • Festa Nacional do Pinhão. This popular gastronomic and cultural festival attracts more than 350,000 visitors every year for 11 days in June, mostly Brazilian and Argentine tourists. It is considered the biggest traditionalist party in Brazil. The symbol of the festival is the blue jay , a species of bird essential for theBiological dispersal of Brazilian pine. There are musical performances, typical dances, "queen of the party" and gaucho dance contests, the "Sapecada da Canção Nativa" and the "Sapecada da Serra Catarinense", gineteadas, typical products fair, Festa dos Sabores de Lages and Recanto do Pinhão", the latter located outside the exhibition park, at Praça João Costa, in the center of the city.
