La Esperanza is a town in Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, Spain.
La Esperanza is a town of ca. 3500 inhabitants northeast of the Teide National Park. Esperanza is a Spanish word meaning hope and refers to the feeling Castilian conquerors had when they set up camp in the area after they had fled from the Battle of Acentejo, having lost against the Guanche aborigines. One of the highest towns of Tenerife, it is at an altitude of 879 m above sea level.
La Esperanza is well connected to San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the northern airport and the main motorway via the TF-24. The same road also makes for easy access to the nearby Corona Forestal national park and El Teide.
The tourist attractions are on a walking distance from the historic centre.
