Kulithalai

Kulithalai is a town on the south bank of River Cauvery in India. It houses the famous Shiva temple 'Kadambar kovil' (a Thevara sthalam). A taluk headquarters of Tamil Nadu, Kulithalai is a big town on the railway between Tiruchirappalli and Karur. From here one can visit Ayyarmalai Rathnagiri Eshwarar hill temple (also known as Vaatpokki) 6km away.

It is well connected by bus every 5 minutes from Trichy the nearest big town. All the buses going to Coimbatore, Karur, Erode stop there and it is only a 40-minute drive watching the beautiful Cauvery on your right and the railway line on your left amidst plantains and paddy fields.. It is so green you might feel like driving up and down again.

Mookombu is located about 20 km (towards Trichy) from Kulithalai. It is a lovely picnic spot with a lot of water. Kollidam river divides from River Cauvery here. There is a big dam here.You can walk through the dam and take a look at the fast flowing water.

Loads of temples around and it is the perfect place after your retirement. If you want to taste post retirement life, you should visit and stay there for a week minimum. Lots of temples around and it is well connected by train to Bangalore, Cochin, Chennai, Erode, Trich, Mysore, Mangalore and Kashmir.

Place for Akanda Cauvery (Wide Cauvery). Nice to walk and spend evening time on the river sands. Good experience of the country side. One can enjoy a walk on the long bridge connecting Kulithalai with Musiri across the river Cauvery.

There are very few places to visit in Kulithalai, so big city people may not be comfortable for long here. You can come just to relax for an afternoon. The Manathattai Agraharam has two good old temples dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu. The places near the bus stand have some good old temples as well. You can also visit the Rathna Girishwarar temple, in Aiyarmalai 5 km away from Kulithalai and well connected by road.

Kadambavaneswara Shiva temple is situated on the bank of the Cauvery.

Many other Temples are on your route to Trichy. Thirupparai Thurai - Temple, Ramakrishna mission, Thapovan - Ashram. Jeer Puram, Sirugamani & Perugamani, Gunseelam (other side of Cauvery).

There really isn't much to buy here except vegetables from the market. There is a weekly market for fresh vegetables. There is a hotel named "Srinivasa Cafe" near Court will provide you with a delicious and homely vegetarian meal.

The most important thing in Kulithalai that you can get is fresh betel leaves and jasmine.

Better get in to Trichy for stay (34 km). water facility is better than other towns here. Here is no demand for water. So we observe 24 hours water.
