Kondotty

Kondotty is a big town near Kozhikode Airport in Malappuram District, in the Malabar region of Kerala, India.

Kondotty is adjacent to the Karipur International Airport. The people are very rich because of remittance from the Gulf countries. Consumer culture dominates the town with numerous restaurants, showrooms and fancy shops. Traffic is chaotic and the streets are extremely crowded.

Otta Ada is a special variety of rice preparation made in earthen vessels, originated in Kondotty area.

• Ottayada. Ottayada or Ottaada or Ottayappam is a very common rice preparation of Kondotty people. But it is not easy to get one as they are not sold in restaurants. You have to search for them in small tea shops or ask a local friend to cook it for you. The new generation housewife cannot make it because Ottada requires special earthen vessels to cook in.
