Kilis

Kilis is a town in Southeastern Anatolia, just north of the Syrian border.

	WARNING: Because of the ongoing civil war in Syria, avoid non-essential travel to the city of Kilis, and do not travel ouside of the city within 10 km of the border with that country.

Kilis became urbanized mostly during the Ottoman Empire.

As of the early 2020s, the total population of Kilis is about 200,000, roughly half of it natives and the other half Syrian refugees.

On February 6, 2023, Kilis was hit by a devastating earthquake. Many of the city's buildings and landmarks are badly damaged or collapsed.

There are frequent buses from nearby Gaziantep.
