Heraclea Minoa

Heraclea Minoa is a small village named after its Greek ruins on the south coast of Agrigento province in Sicily, Italy, half way between the towns of Sciacca to the north-west and Porto Empedocle and Agrigento to the south-east.

Get in

By bus

Buses do not go directly to Eraclea Minoa, but they will stop and pick up from the road junction on the main SS115, about 4km away. From here you will have to walk (or hitch a lift). It can get very hot in summer. On the way back, you are more likely to be able to find someone to give you a lift to the road junction, or even further afield.

From the SS115 road junction there are frequent buses from and to Sciacca and Agrigento.

Get around

See

  • The 🌍 ruins.  They are not that impressive - a semi-circular open air theatre and a few buildings - but the setting of a hill overlooking a sweeping beach, backed by a narrow band of pine trees, more than makes up for it.

Do

  • Venture down to the beach through the pine trees and relax in or outside one of the two bars.
