Eunice

Eunice is in the Acadiana subregion of Louisiana. This town is essentially considered the center of the Prairie Cajun culture. A new city by Louisiana standards, Eunice was settled in 1900 as a planned city on the railroad. Home to the National Park Service's Prairie Acadian Cultural Center and the Liberty Theater, Eunice has quickly become one of Louisiana's major destinations for all things Cajun.

Highlights the culture of the Prairie Cajuns by use of displays, exhibits, and weekly activities. Music show and cooking demonstration held every Saturday afternoon. Free. (updated Aug 2018)
• Cajun Music Hall of Fame, 240 S C C Duson St. All about the local music scene. +1 337-457-6534.
• Eunice Depot Museum, 220 S C C Duson St. This is more just a general museum of the area, housed in the depot that was part of developer C C Duson's plan for the town. +1 337-457-6540.
• Liberty Theater, 200 Park Ave. An important historic venue for Cajun music in this town. +1 337-457-6577

Don't miss the Courir de Mardi Gras (a traditional rural French Louisiana Mardi Gras observance with lots of horses) or the World Championship Crawfish Étouffée Cookoff if you get the chance - it is Acadiana culture at its finest.
