  • 🌍 Jacksonport State Park (off of Hwy 69 northwest of Newport), ☏ +1 870 523-2143. The site of a thriving river port at the confluence of the White and Black River that saw many a paddleboat and also the surrender of the Confederate Army of Northern Arkansas to Union forces in 1865, this former county seat features a courthouse museum and visitor center, along with just a good snapshot of the past.
