Dayton is a city of 2,400 people (2019) in the Palouse region of eastern Washington. It is the county seat of Columbia County. It has an historic depot, historic courthouse, and Main Street, that are part of a National Historic District.

  • Dayton Historical Depot, 222 E. Commercial St, +1 509 382-2026. May-Oct: Tu-Th 11AM-5PM, F Sa 10AM-5PM, closed Su M holidays; Nov-Apr: Tu-Sa 11AM-4PM, closed Su M holidays. Built in 1881, it is the oldest surviving train depot in the state. $3/adult, children 12 and under are free.
  • 🌍 Lewis and Clark Trail State Park, 36149 Highway 12 (7 miles southwest of Dayton, at Highway 12 & Timpley Road). A 37-acre camping park.
