Understand
The county of Changhua is home to the Babuza Aboriginal people. Historically, Changhua city was a base for immigrants from China and used as a staging post in various campaigns against the indigineous inhabitants. To support this, a fortress was built out of bamboo which gained the city the nickname "Bamboo Town".
The city has an area of approximately 65 km (25 sq mi)km and a population of around 226,744 (as of January 2023).

- Freeway 3 intersects with Freeway 1 at Changhua and connects to Provincial Highway 74.
Get around
Changhua was the second city after Taipei to introduce a public bicycle rental system and now there are dozens of rental points for the YouBike program scattered around the city.
