Campbell Town

Campbell Town is a small but picturesque town in Northeast Tasmania that makes a pleasant stop if you're driving the 200 km from Hobart to Launceston.

Campbell Town is 45 mins from Launceston via the Midland Highway, which is mostly a freeway until Perth. From Hobart, just take the National Highway 1, but north this time, and this route is not a freeway north of Bagdad. There's no airport in Campbell Town, nor is there a train service.

The Grange, the former residence of Dr William Valentine, is now the town meeting center and function hall.

• 🌍 Campbell Town Agricultural Show. 2 days in early June. Oldest agricultural show in Australia, founded in 1838. $10 ($55 annual membership admits 2 adults and 2 children both days). (updated Feb 2023)
