West Central Greece

West Central Greece is in Central Greece. It includes the regional units of (from east to west) Boeotia, Phthiotis, Phocis, Evrytania, and Aetolia-Acarnania.

• 🌍 Delphi — Site of the famous oracle of Apollo, major archaeological site
• 🌍 Galaxidi — A traditional settlement and a well-known destination for yachts.
• 🌍 Itea — Seaside town close to Delphi
• 🌍 Orini Nafpaktia are attractive villages in the Nafpaktos countryside.
• 🌍 Thebes (Greek: Thiva) — The modern town lies at the site of ancient Thebes, a powerful city-state that dominated most of Classic Greece after the victory over the Spartans at Leuctra in 371 BC
• 🌍 Agios Thomas Tanagras — A semi-mountainous village at Tanagra municipality, near necropolis of ancient Tanagra.

• 🌍 Loutra Ypatis — the village is famous for its hot springs and boasts several hotels.

Gorgopotamos Bridge

Gorgopotamos Bridge is a railway bridge over the river Gorgopotamos near Lamia that is famous for one of the biggest sabotage acts of World War II, known as "Operation Harling". A British mission and 150 Greek partisans blew it up on 25 November 1942, cutting off German supplies being transported between Athens and Thessaloniki.

Thermopylae is a narrow coastal passage north of Delphi that is famous for the battle that took place there in 480 BC.

Ossios Loukas Monastery is a historic monastery near Itea, listed on UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.

The archaeological museum in Thebes is one of the most important in Greece.

• Go skiing in the winter at Velouchi, one of the best ski resorts in Greece.

• Kokoretsi and roast lamb (arnaki psito)
• Mezedes (appetizers) made from local meats, sausages, feta cheese and the local soft cheese tsalafouti or katiki.
