Barton-upon-Humber is a town and civil parish in North Lincolnshire. It is situated on the south bank of the Humber Estuary, and at the end of the Humber Bridge. It lies 46 miles (74 km) east of Leeds, 6 miles (10 km) south-west of Hull and 31 miles (50 km) north north-east of the county town of Lincoln. Other nearby towns include Scunthorpe to the south-west and Grimsby to the south-east.

By bus

Barton-Upon-Humber is served mainly by two bus routes. The 350/360 Humber FastCat buses run between Scunthorpe and Kingston-Upon-Hull and run through Barton-Upon-Humber on a regular basis. There is also the Humber Flyer which runs between Kingston-Upon-Hull and Cleethorpes.

  • 🌍 Thornton Abbey and Gatehouse, Thornton Curtis, Ulceby, DN39 6TU (7 miles east of Barton-upon-Humber), ☏ +44 1469 541445. Near Ulceby off the A180, is the site of the ruins of a 12th century abbey as well as a fortified gatehouse which still remains. Open 7 days a week in July and August and at weekends during the remainder of the year. adults £4.50, children £2.70, concessions £4.10. 
  • 🌍 Humber Bridge. 2,220-metre (7,280 ft) single-span suspension bridge. Opened in 1981 at which time it was the longest of its type in the world, and is now the seventh-longest. (updated Apr 2016)

A museum detailing the life and career of Samuel Wilderspin, an English educator known for his work in creating many frameworks and models for infant education throughout Europe and North America.
