Banana Islands
island group in Sierra Leone
The Banana Islands are a prime tourist destination in Sierra Leone. The proximity to Freetown (40km) and the idyllic environment of a pristine tropical island make Banana Island a popular choice for daytrips and overnight excursions. The island has rich history as the first European settlement in the region and locals are proud to show visitors the various sites. There are two fishing communities on the Island, Dublin and Ricketts.
