Bad Windsheim

Bad Windsheim is a town of 12,000 people (2020) in Middle Franconia. The town is known for its waters and spa, Franken-Therme, and an open-air museum.

In the Holy Roman Empire, Windsheim held the rank of Imperial City (until 1802). In 1961, it became a spa town and has since been called "Bad Windsheim".

• 🌍 Fränkisches Freilandmuseum Bad Windsheim. The Freilandmuseum brings together old farms and farmhouses from the area (updated Aug 2020)
• 🌍 Rathaus (town hall). The town ​​hall was probably created between 1713 and 1717 according to plans by Gabriel de Gabriele. Master mason Johann Michael Anspacher, foreman Giovanni Rigaglia and Windsheim craftsmen erected the town hall as a castle-like baroque building. Burnt out during the great fire on December 3, 1730, it was rebuilt by July 1732 by the Windsheim city master builder Johann Niklaus Krauß. 
• 🌍 Statue of Roland war memorial. The statue of Roland was erected in 1928 as a war memorial for the fallen of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and the First World War. A plaque added later commemorates the fallen of World War II. The figure is 8 m high, with the column a total of 11 m.
