Hiya! My name is Eden Love. I'm currently a junior at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) with a major in technical communication and information design (TCID).

TCID encompasses many things including user experience (UX) research and design, information architecture, technical editing, technical documentation, grant writing, and more! One of the main reasons I chose this major was because of the diverse skills I get to learn. I love learning new software and connecting it with my passion for writing.

Projects

In my coursework I've been able to work on many projects, some with real-world clients.

  • PAL User Experience Research Project: Conducted usability testing and provided design recommendations for a course-specific chatbot.
  • Orbital Mechanics Textbook: Technically edited chapters for media attributions, image accessibility, and equation labeling.
  • OIT Policy Revision: Revised UCCS wireless policy and created new student-centered documentation.

Throughout all my coursework, I found a passion for UX and design. I love document design. Below are a few samples of some pages I made. This one is the student-centered document for an OIT policy at UCCS a client asked me to create. It went through a couple iterations before I could find a design that worked with the branding and user.

I also enjoyed designing some fun projects, like the history of a classic typeface: Baskerville. I may have also selected it because it reminded me of Sherlock Holmes, and I love mystery novels as long as it isn't too graphic.

Skills

I've also been able to practice and grow many skills in technical communication and UX within my degree program.

  • User experience research and testing
  • Technical documentation and editing
  • Information architecture and visual design
  • Collaborative project management
  • Data visualization and analysis

Groups

On campus, I'm also involved in the Dance club and UCCS Impact Marketing club. There I hope to apply my technical writing skills and collaborate with students outside my major. This can give me practice for a workplace environment.

Hobbies

My inquisitive and creative nature reaches beyond my education. I’m constantly exploring new creative challenges. Currently, I’m teaching myself photography, piano, and creative writing.

I also love to read and spend time with my family. I mainly like fantasy. A big series I'm reading right now is The Empyrean Series by Rebecca Yarros.
