Hello, my name is Nattaly Vargas, and I'm a design major at UC Davis. I am a 3rd-year transfer student. I transferred from Solano Community College with a Graphic Design & Illustration Associates Degree. I have always been interested in graphics and creating things digitally, so when I saw that design was a career option, I chose it as my academic path.
Through this major, I want to gain skills that will help me become a better designer so that I can find solutions and be able to create things that satisfy clients. I want to do branding, advertising, and marketing with what I learn here at UC Davis. In the future, I want to be part of a marketing team or even start my own company/team that works with clients who want to advertise.
From my time in school, I've learned to use a few programs that allow me to design efficiently, like Adobe, Rhino, and Processing. I've also learned how to use machines that allow me to make physical designs, such as laser cutters. I hope that in the future I will learn about more software programs for design.
Skills
Some skills I have are that I am willing to learn new things, and I am familiar with Adobe, Rhino, and Processing.
Projects/accomplishments
- Designed and constructed a parklet out of cardboard using programs like Rhino and Adobe.
- Designed a model of an adult park/third space for campuses.
- Designed the vehicle wrap for a moving trailer for a community college program with Adobe.
Repair experience
I have never fixed anything, but I have used many hacks to get temporary fixes for damaged items.

How does this project relate to you?
I think that this project will help me by giving me experience in how to apply visual rhetoric to help others. It will also be something I can use to add to my experience list.

- I have 2 dogs, a bird, and a cat.
- I can't live without pozole or orange rice.
- I love K-pop (BTS and Ateez), anime, musicals (Hamilton, Epic: The Musical, etc. ), reading (fantasy), and games like Animal Crossing
