Christopher Leon Farmer is a graduate student at Northern Arizona University.
Major—Professional Writing. I chose this because I love writing, and the skills earned pursuing this degree apply to a wide range of careers.
Aspirations—I hope to work as a professional editor or curriculum developer after I earn my degree.
Skills—I have experience as a radar technician, and I have also led teams performing preventive and corrective maintenance on various electronic systems.
Projects/accomplishments—I've earned two undergraduate degrees and certified as a post-secondary instructor, and I've completed numerous apprenticeships, including Electronics Technician and Instructor, while serving 25 years in the US Navy.
Repair experience—I've repaired electronics earlier in my career, but have been managerial since 2008. I have repaired computers as a hobbyist.
Accolades—I've been recognized as an honor graduate at several technical schools and made the Dean's list at a leadership school.
Groups/memberships—I am a member of various honor societies and I serve as a research and writing volunteer for Global Impact Initiative, a nonprofit supporting refugees.
Hobbies—I work part time as a freelance AI trainer in my spare time. It involves validating data, researching interesting topics, and writing.
How does this project relate to you?—This project relates to me because I work in a role that requires me to generate technical content, and the skills developed during this course will improve my work.
Any other fun facts you’d like to add?—I've been married for 12 years, and we have two cats that we spoil. We live in Florida, but are hoping to retire some place where it snows in the winter.
